URGENT - Help Downtown Leesburg - Attend Town Council Mtg 24 Mar 09, 7:30 pm

URGENT!!! Leesburg & Loudoun (and nearby) Residents - take Note.
Current mood: anxious

We are trying to save Historic Downtown Leesburg from dying an ignoble death. The Historic district is in DESPERATE need of refurbishing, improvement and renewal. Plans were agreed upon, and money targetted and set aside. Now the town council wants to blow it all off. If you enjoy coming to the Historic District in Leesburg (Virginia), and would like to see it get the facelift it needs so very much to compete with nearby chain shopping areas and other NOVA historic districts, please come and add YOUR voice this coming Tuesday (starts at 7:30 - there is plenty of FREE parking in the attached municipal garage) The town council tends to stand up and take notice with taxpayers and users of services come to the meetings. You don't HAVE to speak there, but if you are willing to, even saying as little as "I come to downtown Leesburg and support these improvments - and it will encourage me to come more often", will make a tremendous difference. Please help us!

Referenced Email:

Now is the time to make your opinion heard!

Over
the last several weeks and months the members of the Downtown
Improvement Association who make up the Board of Directors, the Design
and Infrastructure Committee as well as the Advocacy Committee have
continued to meet and advance the DIA PLAN for infrastructure improvements in Downtown Leesburg.

DIA
has been fully engaged with reviewing, meeting with town
representatives, and commenting on this years CIP/budget process,
again, advocating for the DIA PLAN that was presented to Town Council
last spring – NOTHING ABOUT OUR MISSION AND GOALS HAS CHANGED.

Now we are asking for your DIRECT participation and support-

The
key to advancing the improvements outlined in the DIA PLAN is to get as
many supporters as possible to attend the public hearing on the evening
of March 24th and ask that the 5 million dollars that we
estimate it will cost to implement these improvements be included in
the Capital Improvement Budget for 2010 and 2011.

If
we are successful the design work can be completed in fiscal 2010 with
construction completed by late 2011 / 2012. By then, we should be out
of the recession and private re-development will follow. Currently most
of the funding is not scheduled until 2015 or later.

Our
position all along has been that we do not believe a piece-meal
approach over the next 10 years will have the desired impact.

Also, e-mailing all the members of Council with your valued opinion on this would be very helpful. (email address - council@leesburgva.gov)

We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday the 24^th at 7:30 PM to speak up for Downtown Leesburg!

Thank you-

Scott Gustavson

"I SEE NEITHER CHRISTIAN NOR JEW, HINDU NOR MUSLIM, AMERICAN NOR INDIAN BLACK NOR WHITE - MAN NOR WOMAN FRIEND NOR ENEMY I SEE ONLY SPIRIT - SOULS - SERVANTS - LOVERS OF GOD"-Mother Rytasha

Mother Rytasha, known to millions as "The Angel of Bengal", was given every conceivable blessing at birth. Born into a rich and aristocratic family, daughter of a German Baroness, she was educated in Europe and America. At 20 she was voted by an English newspaper as one of the most beautiful women in the world. Given all this, it is surprising to learn that in 1985 she sold her home, jewels and properties to give all to "The Poorest of the Poor". Called by God, she left everything and today wanders the world preaching the Pure Spiritual Truth found at the heart of all religions. It is a Message of Love, which breaks down false barriers and brings Peace at last, to free the world. It is the true teaching of "The Path Made Straight"-the path by which a man come again to God. Some call her, "The Prophet of this Age", others a Saint, but when asked who she is, she answers only, that she is a Servant of the Servants of God.

Mission Food Relief International - The Servants of Charity (F.R.I. - T.S.O.C) is a non-sectarian, non-political, non-profit organization dedicated to helping those in disasters or disastrous conditions. Founded by Mother Rytasha to show the innate goodness of man, and as an expression of the spiritual reality here on earth. It is truly, "Love made Concrete!" Since 1985,“F.R.I. - T.S.O.C.” has founded 31 schools, educating thousands of children, the "poorest of the poor", among them slum children, some as young as 8 years old, whose very survival depends on their working. F.R.I. - T.S.O.C. has opened a free clinic which now treats over one thousand patients a month, has brought food and clothing to over 100,000 people in relief during earthquake, floods and cyclone disasters, and has been involved in self sufficiency programs such as community training, seed distribution, interest free loans, electrification, irrigation, sewing cooperatives and wells. But having seen that "nothing will really change until the consciousness of man is changed," we have also spoken and written extensively of the great spiritual truths found in all religions. In 1993 we founded Angel Press which has since sold over 500,000 books. http://www.chela.net/rytasha/
